 A warm and enthusiastic welcome to Duckbill Studios! We are an atlanta
glassblowing studio fully committed to providing an affordable,
well-equipped and open-to-learning environment for all lovers of glass including professional glassblowers, artisans, students and enthusiasts of glass art.
Here at Duckbill Studios...
- We create glass art using many different glassblowing techniques and skills. We are open to commissions for particular pieces of glass -sculptural or functional.
- We teach classes for those who want to explore glassblowing for fun or those who have a more focused intent. One on one instruction is available as tutorials.
- We offer group events (birthdays, team-building, family activities, etc).
- We conduct workshops to fulfull part of our mission which is to impart and entrust the knowledge of glass to others.
- We provide glassblowing demonstrations for individuals or groups.
- We host events including our own Open Houses.
- We offer studio rental to glassblowers of proven proficiency.
- We provide a venue for our established artisans and our new artists to showcase their talent and sell their artwork.
We invite you to come by as we are conveniently located in metro Atlanta just off the Ponce de Leon/Church Street exit, at the western end of Stone Mountain Freeway (Hwy 78), near the Dekalb Farmer's Market and in close proximity to downtown Decatur.
Artisans
The purpose and intent of our studio is to provide a venue for our artisans to share of their joy in the centuries-old art of glassblowing. Our artists provide the lifegiving spark which ignites and infuses the studio with intense creativity and incomparable vitality.
Our main glassblower and instructor (as well as owner) at Duckbill Studios is Tadashi Torii. Born in Osaka, Japan, Tadashi discovered his innate and inseparable connection to glass while studying at Georgia Southwestern State University . A glassblower for 15 years, Tadashi works with affectionate attentiveness and exacting precision with his pieces. He is adventurous in his glassblowing and loves the fiery challenge provided by the medium of glass. Duckbill is his heartfelt dream.
