About Us
Duckbill Studios is a off-hand hot glass studio dedicated to the amateur and professional glass glassblower.
The idea of Duckbill Studios started in February 2004 when we decided we wanted to create a place where glass blowers could have clear glass, great equipment and a non-industrial space to create art. After a long search, we finally ended up off Ponce de Leon Ave. Here, we had a central location to draw other professional renters and customers.
A duckbill shear is a specialty tool used by glass blowers. Any glass blower would know that “Duckbill Studios” was a hot shop. Susan pushed for the unusual name and Mark made the fantastic logo.
Brian insisted that the studio would not be located in an industrial park. All in all, we picked a great location. It finally all came together but we could not have opened without the help of Shane, Meredith, Sam, Algar, Chris and others.
In 2005, we had our grand opening.
Our Mission:
- Provide the best possible working environment for the professional artist or serious student.
- Promote knowledge about the art of glassblowing through classes, workshops and demonstrations.
- Support our growing regional art community.
